Swelling, redness, and bruising can result, and be associated with difficulty walking or moving the toe. Unfortunately, due to a certain amount of public confusion regarding toe fractures, many people will never seek medical care. The injury should be seen as soon as possible to have it properly evaluated as all fractures are different. Angular or crooked positioning of the toe may result in a permanent, painful deformity if not addressed early. Despite public misconception, there are ways to immobilize and splint the affected toe to corrected position. Surgery many even be indicated for toe fractures.
