arch pain

Arch pain is a generalized term for any discomfort located on the bottom of the foot between the ball of the foot and the heel. Often this is caused by strain of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue on the bottom of the foot which ties the ball of the foot to the heel and allows the two to function together. However, the pain along the medical or lateral side of the arch can represent bursitis, tendonitis, or even a stress fracture. Proper evaluation and assessment of your pain source can determine the cause and allow an effective treatment regiment to be developed. This may include shoe therapy, activity modification, inserts, or orthotics.
